Shaken Baby Syndrome - NEVER EVER SHAKE YOUR BABYI When a baby
is shaken rapidly back and forth, severe brain damage can occur, often causing
death. Make sure to review this with anyone who may be left alone with your
baby. Read Section l-F Crying and the Section on Postpartum Depression.
Please call us if your newborn:
has an Increasing yellow skin color or the whites of the eyes are yellow
has a fever (100.4 or above, rectally)
refuses to feed
vomits excessively
has not had 2 bowel movements each day for the first 7-10 days of life
Is unusually sleepy or Irritable or does not look well
Please call if you have questions about newborn care not answered in this
booklet. Your next appointment for a physical is when your baby is 1 month old
