with certain illnesses, it is not recommended to give aspirin unless
specifically advised to do so by your physician.
Acetaminophen (ex. Tempra, Tylenol) should be given for the treatment
of fever. It is available in drops, liquid, chewable tablets and rectal
suppositories.
Ibuorofen (ex.Motrin, Advil) may be given if your child's fever is not
dropping below 102 degrees two hours after giving the appropriate
dose of acetaminophen (see dosage schedule) for your child's weight.
You can continue to use ibuprofen every 6 hours if the fever responds.
Call if the fever does not respond to ibuprofen.
Preparations:
Acetaminophen (Tempra/Tyienoi)
Concentrated Tylenol Infant Drops 0.8ml = 80 mg
Children's Tylenol Liquid 1 tsp (5ml) = 160 mg
Children's Tylenol Chewable Tablets 1 tab = 80 mg
Jr Strength Tylenol Chewable Tablets 1 tab = 160 mg
Adult Acetaminophen 1 tab = 325 mg
Extra Strength Acetaminophen 1 tab = 500 mg
Feverall Suppository 1 supp = 80 mg, 120 mg, 325 mg
^ ibuprofen (Advii, Motrin)
Concentrated Motrin/Advil Drops 1.25 ml = 501mg
Children's Motrin/Advil Suspension 1 tsp (5ml) = 100 mg
Or Liquid
Children's Motrin/Advil Chewable Tablets 1 tab := 50 mg
Jr Strength Motrin/Advil Chewable Tablets 1 tab = 100 mg
Jr Strength Motrin/Advil Swallowable Tablets 1 tab = 100 mg
