Emergency Room: Our office Is open in the evenings and on weekends so ^
that your child can be seen here rather than in the emergency room. The ER is
                                                                                       ^
designed to treat critically ill patients. Though we would like to avoid having you
bring your child to the emergency room for minor illnesses which can be handled i
in a more time and cost efficient manner in the office, our weekend and evening
appointments are limited and it is sometimes necessary for us to refer a patient ^
to the Emergency Room.
                                                                                        '
PLEASE CHECK THIS BOOK FIRST! The information you want may be in
this book and save you the trouble of placing a phone call. Usually one of the ^
nurses in the office will return your call. The nurses have been instructed by the
physicians in the handling of many problems.

Call Backs:

• If you have "caller ID" and "anonymous call rejection" our return calls
will be blocked and we will not be able to return your call. You must
dial *87 to deactivate the anonymous cali rejection prior to leaving a
message with our ofTice or answering service.

• We will call back as soon as time permits, usually within an hour. Please try
to keep your phone line open.

• Please have a pencil, some paper and the telephone number for your
      pharmacy available.

• Ifyour child feels warm, please take his temperature first.
• If your child is currently on any medications please know their names, doses

and how often the medication is being taken.
• Ifyour child has a chronic medical condition or special health need be sure

      to mention it right away.

Appointments:
• Please call if you have questions or feel that your child needs to be seen

even if a sibling has an appointment. It is very difficultfor us to see patients
on time for their appointments when families bring along additional children
to be seen at a sibling's visit or walk in to be seen without an appointment.
• Speaking of being on time, we try very hard to keep our schedule running
smoothly but occasionally problems and emergencies do arise. We
appreciate your patience when waiting is necessary, and promise that you
will receive our careful attention for your visit.
• If you need to cancel an appointment, please give us at least one day's

        notice.

Missed/Late Appointment Policy:

An appointment is considered missed if you are significantly late or you cancel
less than 24 hours prior to the appointment. This policy applies to the entire
family. As we work hard to offer many options, the biggest strain to this system
is missed appointments. When an appointment is not kept or cancelled with

only short notice, it is not fair to other patients who cannot get appointment
